2023 Louisiana Prep Football Preview: Marion Abramson High School (New Orleans)

Class & District: Class 4A (District 11)

New Abramson High School head coach Wesley Heath was a linebacker at Tulane from 2000-2004 where played under then-head coach Chris Scelfo. Several members of the school’s band play football at Abramson High School. The last time Abramson was in the playoffs was in 1998 when they lost to Neville 13-6 in the first round. The Commodores’ last playoff win for the program was in 1996 beating when they beat Lafayette High 21-6.

"I think we are going to have a great season because we have a lot of hard-working kids and they are hungry to win and do better," Heath said. "We are becoming a team. We have goals as a team too."

The offense has two players who can play the quarterback position this fall. The first QB is Kenneth Christophe (5-7, 160) has great feet in the pocket and a really good arm. There’s also Jordan Harris (6-3, 185, SR) with 4.59 speed and also a WR/SS for the team too. Both Christophe and Harris will start another position if not QB.

Several running backs can carry the football and start both sides of the football. You have RB/SS Derrick Francois (5-8, 175, 4.5 speed), RB/LB Derrick Cooper (5-8, 170, Sr.), RB/LB Gerald Jackson (5-11, 170, Sr.), RB/OLB/DB Bryce Bridges (5-11, 203, 4.59 speed) who is a sleeper recruit and RB/LB Ashton McGowan (5-9, 180, Sr.).

In the WR spot, you have WR Pharrell Stevens 5-10 165 SR runs good routes and good hands, WR Paris Norris (6-2, 180, Sr.) who is a big-play athlete, and WR Jordan Harris (6-3. 185), when he's not playing QB for the team. The offensive line has size and talent with OG/DT Jayden Clark (6-5, 300), OT Bryson Nelson (6-1, 250), OT Nate James (6-5, 265, Sr.) who is another sleeper recruit, center Trent Williams (6-1, 280, Sr.) and talented sleeper TE Bryson Taylor (6-4, 265, Sr.), who has soft hands.

The Defense will have the five running backs above playing linebacker and defensive back, plus you have DT/LB Clarence Jones (6-1, 245, 4.8 speed, Sr.), SS J’aheim Butler (5-9 165 4.4 speed, CB Samarion Butler (5-8, 160, Sr.), and LB Devin Leary (6-0. 195, Sr.).

On special teams, the Commodores will have Gerson Pavon starting as both punter and kicker.
