2023 Louisiana Prep Football Preview: Marksville High School
Marksville Tigers
By Lee Brecheen
Head Coach: Josh Harper (1st year)
2022 Record: 1-9
Class & District: Class 3A (District 2)
Marksville has already improved off of their 1-9 record from last year as they are currently 3-2 on the season, which is a big-time. They started the season by winning their first three games before losing two straight games to Tioga and DeRidder who both have good programs.
First-year head coach Josh Harper was the longtime head football coach for Sacred Heart in Ville Platte for eight years and did a great job there. Coach Harper is a graduate of Marksville High School and was a teammate of the greatest player to ever play at Marksville High School, former All-American LSU defensive lineman Chad Lavalais. Coach Harper also coached with former longtime Marksville head coach J.T. Dunbar.
The program has some really good athletes, most play and start on both sides of the football with players like WR/CB Noah Bryant (5-10, 165, 4.6 speed) who has really good hands, RB/SS/OLB Chris Bryant (5-11, 185, Sr.) who is a sleeper pick in recruiting, TE/HB/LB Chauncey Curtis (6-0, 210, Sr.), FS/WR/RB Elidrick Murray (5-10, 155), QB/FS Devin Lavalais (6-1, 170, 4.6 speed), WR/CB Jaden Price (5-9, 180) and CB/RB Kyreon Prier who is averaging 10 tackles per game and three interceptions already in 2023.
The program does have some quality linemen and linebackers with size with players like OL/DT Anthony Mose (6-3, 308, Sr.), OL/DT Demerion Dupas (6-1, 280), a great player in the program, DT/OT Shayne Sampson (6-3, 325, Sr.), an all-out player, LB Travis Palmer (6-0, 215, 4.7 speed) and LB Kynadarius Hall (5-5, 195).
