McDonogh 35 QB Santana Price
In the last 20 years, McDonogh 35 Head Coach Frank Daggs, has been thought of by many Louisiana high school and coaches as one of the best developers of talent for defensive linemen in the state. I think that’s why his teams are always tough and play great defense because of the upfront as well as the great skill talent.
“We just need to stay healthy as a team this upcoming year.We lost a lot of offensive linemen from last year (six total)," Daggs said. "We also lost a lot of experience at RB and key defensive players with a lot of experience to replace. We do have some experience in spots and if we stay healthy we have a chance to have a good season.”
The Roneagles return a great QB in senior Santana Price (6-0, 185) who has a good arm and has played in many games the last three years. If you have a good QB in Class 4A or any level, you have a chance to do great things.
McDonogh 35 OL Ben Wren
The skill talent around him will have lots of speed again at all spots. The receiving corps will be led by star WR Jakai Anderson, who has a legit 4.4 forty. The Roneagles also have speedy receivers in senior WR Dameon McCloud (5-10, 170), who has speed, WR Craig Davis, and WR Elden Anderson, who also can play some QB. Anderson, Davis and McCloud all run sub-4.5 40s. The RB position will be wide open going through the fall and it will work itself out with a few young players competing.
McDonogh 35 LB Vince Guillory
The key to the offense will be staying healthy on the offensive line led by seniors guard Shawn Joseph (6-2, 290) and OT Benjamin Wren (6-4, 235) as well as OL Lorenzon Langlois 5-10 330.
The defense will need to lean on some players with experience because a few players graduated with experience. The front seven has a chance to be athletic and quick to the ball lead by DE Lyndon Vallery (6-3, 225), senior DE/OLB Peyton McFarland (6-1, 205), OLB Keith Newsome (6-1, 195, 4.55 speed), senior LB Vincent Guillory (5-9, 190, 4.6 speed), OLB Simeon Washington (4.6 speed), LB Dashawn Dales 4.6 speed and senior DE Kevin Boyd (5-10, 205/4.7 speed). The secondary will have speed again and the upside to be strong. The secondary is led by senior FS Thai Brown (5-10, 170, 4.5 speed), senior CB Armari Bell (5-10, 175, 4.5 speed), CB Jakobi Anderson (4.45 speed), CB Justin Ross (4.5 speed), and Simeon Washington can also play some DB when not at LB.
The special teams will be starting WR Craig Davis, who will handle both punting and kicking duties going into the fall.
