“We have a bunch of holes to fill from the 2022 season," East Beauregard High School head coach Ronnie Simmons. We have some size in the trenches but not much depth. We are very young at defensive back. We have a big Freshman class coming in the biggest in five years for the program.

Most of the kids in the program will start both sides of the football like most Class 1A programs. The program returns four-year starter senior RB/DB/ATH Freddy Beall (5-10, 180), QB/DB Caleb Johnson (6-2, 190, 4.65 speed) who missed a few games in 2022 because of an injury. The offense also has back RB/OLB Zane Hilgreth (5-10, 175, 4.6 speed) who had 600 yards rushing in 2022 strong tough runner leader, second-year starterRB/LB Lawson Lewis (5-9, 180) , RB/FB Shane Slaydon (5-8, 175) and senior DE/LB Kaden Lee (5-10, 210) who is quick with 4.7 speed.

The trenches, like Coach Simmons said, have quality players with experience coming back. The unit is led by three-year starter OG Andy Burnaman (6-3, 285) who is a tough leader and has played all five offensive line spots in 2022. There’s also three-year starter OL Jake Cooley (5-9, 215) who is another leader in this unit. There will be three new starters as well: OL Lucien Gaspard (5-10, 200), OL/DL Toby Dyer (6-0, 255) and center Peyton Fox (5-9, 340) who moves well for his size.

Coach Simmons is a graduate of East Beauregard (Class of 2000) and went to McNeese State for . Coach Simmons is also the team’s offensive coordinator. The program has three total assistant coaches and they all coach both JV and varsity. One of the best playoff games in 2022 in Louisiana was the game between General Trass High School and East Beauregard where the final score was 56-46 General Trass.

The 2022 team had two players go to , ATH Gage Hildreth (walking on at McNeese State), and kicker Levi Neely (John Melvin University).
