Head Coach: Zach Lochard (1st year) 

2023 Record: 11-3 and 4-1 in District. 

2023 Playoffs: 2nd round beat Peabody HS 54-20, Quarterfinals beat McDonogh 35 57-21, Semisfinals beat Teurlings Catholic HS 42-35, and in the State Title game lost to ST. Thomas More HS 35-21.

Key Players Graduated: DT Melvin Hills (Texas), QB Ju’Juan Johnson (LSU) DE/DT Jeremiah Jackson, OT Trevor Jeffrey, DT Jon Moore-Leday, FS Ty Lee (Southern U) DE Sandy Lewis (McNeese State), WR Trae Grogan, OLB Brice George, LB Sam Taylor (Blinn Texas JC), WR Treanders Marzell (McNeese State Track & Football). 

Team Outlook: “Blessed tremendous administration tradition, great staff and excited to be the new head coach of Lafayette Christian HS,” said coach Lochard. 

The program will have to move on from one of the greatest Athlete’s to ever come out of Lafayette the city Ju’Juan Johnson signed with LSU and left with many State Records for a Offensive Player in Louisiana history. The seniors class was also one of the most talented to ever leave the school in one year. The good news is the school still has a lot of talent back from last year to make some noise again in 2024. The Offense will have a new QB for the first time in 4 years we mentioned up top. The new leader of the team at QB will be the talented Brayden Walker lettered in 2023 so has experience and has the arm and feet to keep this Offense in high gear in 2024. The coaches at Lafayette Christian feel like Walker can be a big time QB for the program. The WR group also will not slip in talent lead by experienced players back in WR Brayden Allen 20 catches for 303 yards 15.2 yards catch in 2023, WR Brennon Walker (5-10, 180) SR 4.5 speed 38 catches averaged 30 yards per catch with 721 yards with 10 touchdowns in 2023, and WR Carlos O’ Brien 19 catches in 2023 4.59 speed in the forty great blocker route runner. The run game will be strong too lead by Jalen Noel (5-9, 198) SR 4.59 speed, ran for 1,283 yards in 2023 with 14 touchdowns and caught 31 passes for 500 plus yards in 2023. The program also returns RB Calvin Parker (5-8, 190) SR with 4.45 speed, 19 catches in 2023 with 262 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Offensive Line lost some leaders but return 3 talented players to build around in OT Kaleb Campbell (6-7, 305), OT Britt Miller (6-2, 245) SR leader, and OT/OG Caden Rhodes (6-1, 260) SR. The Defense did lost a lot to graduation but return two great leaders to build around in CB Chris Helaire (5-8, 165) SR All State in 2023 6 interceptions last year 44 tackles, 14 tackles for losses, and had 3 interceptions in one game in 2023 against Teurlings Catholic. Also back on the Defense you have Luke Green OLB/SS/CB for the team (6-2, 195) All District in 2023 with 55 tackles on the season. The team returns some more talent in DB Sky Ryan 4.5 speed special player coming up, OLB/Safety Jaiden Winters (6-1, 195) SR coming off injury missed most of the 2023 season program is excited have him back as a leader, DT Michael Bonnett (6-1, 255) big time leader for program, LB Jayden Arceneaux (6-1, 215) had 30 tackles in 2023, and OLB/DE Jamison Marzell a big time football player with 4.6 speed. Special Teams will be in great hands with Kicker Lincolin Arago back for his 2nd year as the starter 71/74 in extra points, with 82 touchbacks in the end zone in 2023. 

Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy

2023 Record: JV in 2023

2023 Playoffs: None

2024 Playoffs: Select

Team Outlook: “1st year varsity football in 2024. Program played a JV Schedule in 2023. 38 kids in the program in 2023. We will have 10-13 seniors on the team in 2024,” said coach Landry. 

The young program will have some good players in there 1st year to play for district. Key players for the program are RB Dwayne Johnson (5-8, 175) SR, QB Kenan Brown Jr lettered in 2023, QB/RB/DB Jaquelle Smith (5-9, 170) SR, QB/Athlete/WR/DB Ja’Curey Duhon, RB/LB Kaycee Sellers (5-8, 190), TE/DE Aj Charles, OT/DT Tyronne Jacques (6-1, 220) SR 3rd year in the program leader, Center Cayden Prejean (6-0, 230), LB Ky Sellers, LB Ashton Joseph, WR/DB Shemar Taylor, and OLB Anthony Williams (6-2, 175). Special Teams after Spring both Punter & Kicker where still open for starting jobs.

Key Players Graduated: WR/RB Kenyan Boese, and WR/QB/RB Ray Levi

Team Outlook: “Lost 90% of our big plays on Offense to graduation. We lost 3 seniors from the 2023 team. 41 letterman return with experience. We will be experienced with more size as a team up front for a small school,” said coach Davis. 

The senior group coach talked about is special for this school and team they are OT/DE Waylon Dugas (6-1, 185) SR, LB/RB Robbie Strauss (5-9, 165) leading tackler All District in 2023, WR Zavier Drake (5-11, 170) SR 4.59 speed, OC/DT Mathias Jones (5-10, 273) SR 2nd year starter, OL/DL Ahmad Boudreaux (5-10, 270) SR, DT/OL Darius Levi (6-1, 245) SR, WR/CB La’Nell Shankle (5-11, 160), and OG Austin Spell (5-9, 225) SR. More key players back are QB/Athlete Zaiden Hagge, OL/DL Tyler Mallett, WR Gabe Turner 2nd year starter, LB/RB Tyler Campbell new starter, HB/LB Carson Myers (5-10, 195), QB Cameron Bonin, QB Jackson Davis, RB Carter Guillotte, RB Jayden Prudhomme, WR/CB Breyon McZeal, OLB Khye Hornsby, and DT Merrick Jones (5-11, 245) new starter. 

Notre Dame Pioneers

Head Coach: Lewis Cook (27th year)  

2023 Record: 9-4 and 5-0 won District

2023 Playoffs: 2nd round beat Green Oaks HS 49-14, Quarterfinals beat D’Arbonne Woods HS 49-7, and Semisfinals lost to St. Charles Catholic HS 31-21.

Key Players Graduated: DE Jack Guidry, QB Jackson Link, LB Keefer Kelbaugh, WR/K Hudson Hollier, FB Hayden Johnson, RB Joseph Quebedeaux, DE Sam Kirsch, OL Matthew Brown, OT Luke Schultz, LB Walker Venable, DT Christian Patin, RB Justin Dupuis, RB Ben Rosinski, RB Jacob Trahan, OL Jack Cassidy, OL Collin Lawson and OL Ian Fruge. 

Team Outlook: “As always the key to the 2024 season is staying healthy.We have several starters back on both sides of the ball but limited depth in certain positions.On Offense we return 3 starters and on Defense we return 6 starters,” said coach Cook.

Coach Cook mentioned these players to build around on Defense LB Jackson Casanova (6-1, 210) SR 4 year starter big time player I saw play in person in 2023 fast, reads and all out, LB William Prevost (6-0, 190) SR leader, Secondary coach is high on FS Eli Gros (5-9,150) SR and CB Kagen Semmes both returning starters from 2023. Three more key players back as leaders are DT Aiden Leonards (6-0, 240) SR, DE Cameron Foreman (5-11, 205), and OLB Wes Duplechain (5-9, 185) a Safety in 2023. New starters on Defense are DT Boyd Boudreaux (6-0, 225) SR, DE Evan Dauphine (5-10, 175) SR, SS Matt Mixon (5-11, 175) SR, and CB Josh T Hebert (5-7, 160) SR. The Offense will build around QB Parker Faust (5-7, 165) SR was able to get a lot of playing time when the starter got hurt at QB in 2023, OT Landon Mouton (6-2, 260) SR strong leader with good feet, and WR Leyton Faul (6-0, 180) SR very athletic player with 4.59 speed with alot of experience. New Starters on Offense are TE Josh G. Hebert (6-1, 190) SR, WR Jake Johnson (6-0, 155) SR, OG Gavin Galiet (5-6,225) SR, Center Eli Pommier (5-8, 240), OG William Gautreaux (6-2, 275) SR, OT Felix Trisler (6-5, 210) FB Sam Casanova, and RB Jack Medus (6-1, 175) SR. Special Teams will have all new starters in Kicker Ty Savant (5-6, 150), and two players battling at Kicker Cameron Foreman, and William Prevost.

Welsh Greyhounds

Head Coach: Ronnie Courville (2nd year) 

2023 Record: 9-4

2023 Playoffs: 1st round beat Basile HS 42-20, 2nd round beat White Castle HS 54-16, and Quarterfinals lost to Logansport HS 42-34. 

2024 Playoffs: Non-Select

Key Players Graduated: RB/Athlete Hayden Van Ness, DE Tanner Mallett, WR JJ Artis, TE/DE Troy Pattum, LB Carter Phelps, and OT Caleb Bianchini

Team Outlook: “We have only one senior on the Offensive Line in 2024. Balanced Offense with 13 seniors in 2024. All of our seniors will start in the program this up coming year,” said coach Courville. 

The program will be lead by SR QB Jonavon Begnaud a 4 year starter in the program. Begnaud (6-2, 180) has a ton of talent and the team will rely on him having a great year to lead this team in 2024. The program also gets back CB/WR/RB Cameron Bouley (5-9, 170) SR recovered from a injury in 2023, and 3 year starter Eli Jolie (6-0, 275) is healthy now on the Offensive Line as a OT. The program though young has some really good players back in OL/DL Hagun Bryant (5-10, 250) 2n dyear starter, LB/SS Casey Cormier (5-9, 165) SR 3 year starter, OLB Cohen Cormier (5-7, 175) SR 2nd year starter, FS Jordan Strong 2nd year starter leader, DE Javen Broussard (5-11, 205) SR 2nd year starter, DT Keegan Grimes (6-0, 260) 2nd year starter, LB Preston Lopez (5-9, 175) SR, WR Brecken Haydel (5-11, 170) SR lettered in 2023, WR Dane Iguess (6-2, 168) SR, RB Azarius Bennett (5-8, 170), OL/DL Jayden Turnley (6-0, 335), SS Ethan Beard (5-11, 175) SR, and MLB Ayden Miller (5-11, 185) SR. Special Teams has at both Kicker and Punter Brecken Haydel lettered in 2023 with a good leg.
