2023 Record: 6-6

2023 Playoffs: Semisfinals lost to Sharkey Issaquena Academy from Rolling Fork, Mississippi. 

Key Players Graduated: Ty McMurry, OL/DL Blaine Mullion, WR/CB Cade Ingram, WR/DB Hoyt Carroll, WR/DB Adden Ward, and several players transferring to other schools. 

Team Outlook: “Last season the Cougars were one win away from the Championship game in Jackson, Mississippi. This year was expected to be another Championship run for the Cougars but due to the movement of players to other programs the team will have to go thru a learning process new positions for most players. We still expect to be a good team by mid season and the playoffs,” said coach Marvin Ferrington. 

The top lineman in the program are OL/DL Noah Ratcliff (6-2, 265) SR leader 4 year starter, OL/DL Tucker Grayson (6-2, 260), and OL/DL Isaac Sharp (6-1, 220). Those three kids up top are the glue to the Trenches in 2024 for this team to have a great year. The program lost alot of players from the 2023 season but still return some good Athletes in J. C Ferrington (6-0, 210) a 4 year starter leader, RB/DB/WR for team does it all, RB/Athlete Rudy Liles, (5-11, 170), RB/Athlete AJ Zhang, RB/Athlete Jesse Killingsworth, RB/Athlete Jackson Ferrington, RB/Athlete Alex Graham, RB/Athlete Balon Anderson, and RB/Athlete Matthew Collie

2023 Record: 9-2

2023 Playoffs: 2nd Round lost to Briarfield Academy 42-36. 

Team Outlook: “Very optimistic. Small in numbers. Have some Athletic players. Several talented players I think will step up in 2024. We lost 8 seniors from the 2023 team,” said coach Nathan Edie. 

Even though the QB spot is still open going into the Summer QB Cannon Adams looks to have the edge with a good Spring and Summer (5-10, 155) a young player with potential. The teams best player will probably be RB/LB/P Kaidyn Williams (5-7, 155) SR really good player and a really good Punter/RB/LB for the program. Players that had good Spring & Summers are WR/LB Tanner Carlisle (6-1, 160), HB/TE/RB Ashton Almond (5-9, 180) tough runner leader, RB/LB Kane Dortlon (5-7, 150) new starter, OL/DL Logan Gryder (6-1, 198) 2nd year starter, Center Ben Moseley (5-7, 180) lettered in 2023, OL/DL Remington Dabbs (6-0, 195), and WR/CB Zane Givens (5-9, 150). The Offense will change some in 2024 coach told me will be a Spread Offense and Defense is a 3-3 Basic look.

2023 Playoffs: Played in MAIS 4A State Championship game lost to Tri-County Academy Rebels from Flora, Mississippi 26-13. Won District 4-0

Key Players Graduated: TE/DE/P Dray Killingsworth, QB Larkin Jenkins, RB Gabe Jas, RB/FS Landon Powell, RB Jace Miller, WR Luke Hingle, DT Kale McDaniel, DT Sam Blanchard, FS/SS Cadyn Schlogu, and SR Athlete Kelly Daniels (Oklahoma) . 

Team Outlook: “We will run the Wing-T Offense attack in 2024 but will throw it about 12 to 15 times a game. Big senior class in 2024 for the program with 17 seniors. Program went to the State Title game in 2023. Strong kids in the program weightlifting program im happy with the job kids are doing. We have a strength coach and performance coach Hutch Gonzales does a great job for us. Looking forward to the season in 2024,” said coach Johnson. 

The program returns a leader in SR QB Maddox McGee (6-3, 182) with high IQ of the Offense, tough and 4. 6 speed in the forty. Coach told me he is much improved over the Spring & Summer for the 2024 season. Maddox is a good runner but also becoming a good passer. The Offense returns some really good players around Maddox in FB Bubby Bryant (5-9, 225) bowling ball with feet, FB Cam Seal (5-11, 215) another tough powerful runner great one two punch, WR Preston Garell (6-3, 180) SR talented, Athlete John Parker Brumfield (5-11, 225), TE/WR Zeke Burford (6-5, 200) 2nd year starter should be his year to dominate as a blocker and WR, WR Tucker Pittman (6-3, 170), RB Rayden Rayborn (5-9, 170), and RB/DE Jesse Gaines (6-3, 210). The lineman in the program are OL/LB Brody Esteve (5-10, 198) SR, OT/DT Brice Graham (6-3, 275) 3 year starter talented leader, Center Leroy Brooks (5-10, 230) SR 2nd year starter, DT Austin Bovia (5-11, 215) SR, OL/DL Elijah Webb (6-1, 215) SR 2nd year starter, and OL Mason Lumpkin (5-11, 220). The Defense also returns two big time leaders and both Seniors in LB Jude Rawls (5-11, 185), and Safety Russell Wilson (5-9, 165). Special Teams will be lead by Kicker Alex Brock (5-8, 155) has a big time leg and a chance to help this team in close games with his leg in 2024.

2023 Record: 8-4

2023 Playoffs: 1st Round beat North Sunflower Academy in Drew, Mississippi, and 2nd Round lost to Desoto HS from Arkansas 50-14. 

Key Players Graduated: OG/OC Caden Pajak (Louisiana Christian) , LB/SS Titus Norman, WR/SS Michael Easterly, WR Jonah Williams, DT/DE Jason Forbes, TE/DE KK Tarvalon, and SS/LB/QB/CB Patrick Easterly

Team Outlook: “Best year in school history in 2023,” said coach Pittman. Head Coach Destin Pittman is not only the football coach but also a youth Paster with his second job outside of football. The good new s for the program QB Ein Knight returns for his 4th year as the starting QB completing 50 percent of his passes in 2023, threw for 24 Touchdowns and ran for 700 yards on the ground. Knight also has legit 4.65 speed in the forty at (6-2, 215), and also is the teams starting Kicker and LB on defense. The Offense also returns RB/CB Dash Houston who can run a 4.59 forty in 2023 ran for over 2,000 yards with 29 Touchdowns a school record and will try and do it again in 2024. The Defense returns LB Ezra Nobles (6-2, 185) a leader with 85 tackles in 2023 tackling machine lead the team in tackles. The program also returns some really good players in WR/DB Steven Thibodeaux 4.5 forty speed All State in Track, DE/RB/DB Sammy Seal (5-10, 180) SR leader, WR/CB/Safety Conner Slocum (6-0, 160) SR new starter, Center Sebastain Sanders (5-10, 260) new starter, OG Mason Sanders (5-11, 255) , TE/FB/DE Trevor Bennett (6-1, 225) SR Athletic and really good in Baseball for the school too, LB Noah Gibbs (5-9, 165) SR tough player, OL/DL Brody Applewhite, and DT Russell Romano (6-1, 200) had a great Summer and Spring for the program.

2023 Record: 6-5

2023 Playoffs: 1st Round lost to Deer Creek HS

Key Players Graduated: OL/DL John David Pipes. 

Team Outlook: “Both Offensively and Defensively we bring back a ton of experience from last years team. Offensively we return every starter plus some key backups, while Defensively we lost one senior. These guys expected a lot last year and when the season ended, they weren’t happy with the outcome. These guys are determined to put us back on top,” said coach Jared Smelser. 

One of the best players in the program returns in QB Hayden Little (5-8, 155), who also plays 3 more positions on the team WR/CB/RB. The program returns some really good lineman in the program in DE/LB/FB Will Waggoner (6-0, 198) SR leader, DE Jaxon Gee (6-0, 175) also a QB/WR for team, DE/TE/OL Abram Anthony (6-2, 265), DE/OC/OL Brayden Decorte (5-7, 210), OL/DL Fisher Daniels (5-8, 230), DL/OL John David Pipes (6-0, 260) 4 year starter leader, DL/WR Tollan Wallace (6-2, 190), and OL/LB Dylan Hall (5-9, 160). Linebackers and skill players are LB/RB Cole Murphy (5-8, 165), LB/WR Mason Tullos (6-0, 160), K/WR/CB Noah Lopez (5-9, 164), and CB/WR Landyn Deville (5-7, 150). 

River Oaks Mustangs

Head Coach: Bo Barton (2nd year) 

2023 Record: 5-6

2023 Playoffs: Lost to Calhoun Academy HS in Calhoun City, Mississippi. 

Team Outlook: “Being a MAIS school we get kids from all over. Goal is to be a unity team is the goal. Stick together work together. We will be a good football team if we do that. We should have over 30 players for the fall. 2023 we had about 16 to 17 total players,” said coach Bo Barton. 

The program will have a chance to be a State Champion in 2024. The Mustangs have 2 new players transferred in from Rayville HS in Kenneth Boston (6-8, 315) SR and Lantavious Murphy (6-3, 195) SR both DI prospects something this school hasn’t had in the history of the school. These two kids could end up 2 of the best 10 players in the state in Recruiting at seasons end. Murphy runs a legit 4.45 forty and has incredible talent and OT Boston is lean and hasn’t even scratched his potential yet with being a Athlete. The program also has back WR/CB Reggie Jackson (6-2, 170) 4.55 speed, WR/CB Byron Price (5-7, 140), QB/DB Makaih White (6-1, 150) SR, OL/DE Cayden Vanderburg (6-1, 185), WR Kaden Ramer (5-11, 155), RB/OLB John David Green (5-8, 190), RB/DB Jaydon Norton (5-7, 155), and LB Gage Guilliams (5-8, 160). Theres more players new to the program that will give this team a chance again to be special in 2024. 

Oak Forest Yellowjackets

Head Coach: Drew Misita (7th year) 

2023 Record: 6-6. 

The program will return leader RB/LB Tanner Spears (6-0, 205) a SR with 4.6 speed in the forty who is already committed to Southeastern U in Hammond. Spears is one of the most talented players in the league if not the best player as a 3 year starter for the program. This team has some quality players back to help Spears in DB/WR Cameron Finch (6-0, 180) a SR, QB/Athlete Kaul Perkins (5-10, 175) a SR 3 year starter at QB big time leader also with 4.55 speed in the forty. LB Brandt Liuzza 4.6 speed leader high effort kid, QB Cole Covington (6-2, 185) Sr tough kid Athletic, FS/WR John Todd Thompson (5-11, 170) SR, OL/P/K Will Fortenberry (5-10, 220) SR leader, OL Luke Johnson (6-0, 260) SR, OL/DL Brody Thomas (5-11, 210), TE/DE Jack Benoit (6-3, 220), WR/Safety Brennan Wilkinson (5-10, 160), DT Brantley Patti (5-10, 220), and WR/SS Kade Perkins (5-9, 175). 

2023 Playoffs: Playoffs lost to Simpson Academy 14-7. District was 3-1

Team Outlook: “I believe our fans will be proud of the product we put out on the field and how our kids play the game fast, physical , and maximum effort. I look forward to seeing our guys playing the game the right way and competing as a team,” said coach Drew Misita.

Team Outlook: “We are returning a lot of key players. We only have 2 seniors in 2024 this year. We have more quickness than 2023. We will be young in the interior line, but we have shown good work ethic this Summer. We are striving for a breakthrough year,” said coach Jason Williams. 

Key players back are TE Reagan Feazell, OL Sutton Loe, RB/WR Dylan Buckner, OL Lane Sexton, RB/WR Cade Smith, OL Tommy Thompson, TE/WR Maddox Gaston, OL Cannon Graves, QB/WR Maddox Marsalis, OL Gus Strange, and OL Ryder Gaston

2023 Record: 0-3

Team Outlook: “We are a young team rebuilding. Our players are working hard, and eager to start the new season. We only have 11 players in the program in 2024,” said coach Mike Gill. 

The key players back to build around are QB/RB/LB/DE Caleb Calhoun (5-11, 206) leader of the team, RB/QB/LB/DE Logan Spears (5-10, 175) fast and new to football, RB/LB Braxton Welch a Freshman with good speed, Center Ty Fife (5-10, 210), RB/Safety/CB Paul Williams small in statue but tough kid, and OG/DE/DT Corbin Walsworth (5-6, 185) will start both sides of the football like everyone on the team will in 2024 because of small numbers. 

Silliman Wildcats

Head Coach: Chet DeLee (2nd year) 

2023 Record: 7-4 and 3-1 in District. 

2023 Playoffs: 1st Round lost to Leake Academy in Madden, Mississippi. 

Key players Graduated: DT/LSP William Cooper, CB/WR/RB Charles Rist Hunt. DE/OLB Parker Blount, RB Trey Villavaso, DE Ryan Stafford, and OL Braxton Hill

Team Outlook: “We will run a new 3-4 Defense in 2024. We will be replacing a few on Defense. Big Offensive Line with 3 starters coming back with a great Offensive Line coach in Mike Todd,” said coach Chet DeLee. 

This has a chance to be one of the more talented teams in a long time if they can stay healthy like most football teams for a full season. The Offense will return one of the best Offensive Lines the school has produced in a long time lead by  OT/OG Cooper Taylor (6-6, 265), OG Lee Jude Reed (6-4, 320) strong kid, OT Mason Dorsey (6-3, 275), OT Pierson Fudge (6-2, 210), and OC/OG/DT Kaine Cornette (6-3, 261). The QB spot is strong with Athlete Parker Nettles (5-11, 195) a really good runner and Athlete for the program. The skill spots on Offense you have FB/RB/DE Isaac Garba (5-11, 226), WR/CB Elliot Fuge, WR/CB Kevin Windham 4.45 speed, TE/LB John Barley Dawson (6-3, 215) SR prospect, and WR/CB Brody Diel (6-0, 160) all Athletic really good players for both sides of the football. The Defense you have the Athletic LB John Barley Dawson, DE Isaac Garba (Deadlifts 505 pounds) also a 2 way starter, DT Deacon White (6-2, 245) , LB/FB Evan Wiley (5-10, 185) transfer from Zachary HS with alot of experience, OLB Cole Atkinson (6-0, 185) , CB/NB Colt Bergeron (5-10, 175) SR, and CB/Safety Issac Jenkins a talented young Defensive Back. There are more players who will help this program win in 2024 DT Edwin Smith (6-0, 215) , QB Michael Kirby (6-1, 190), Kristopher Ellis Rogillio (6-2, 170) , LB/RB Cade Henderson (5-6, 160), LB/RB Caleb Crawford (5-6, 175), and WR Denny Qiu (6-0, 172), Special Teams will be strong with Zachary HS transfer Kicker/Punter Ryan Burns (6-0, 180) a SR and a really good player. Long Snapper Kaden Wicker will start to help with Special Teams to give this team a strong unit overall. 

Briarfield Academy Rebels

Head Coach: Beau Travis (8th year) 

2023 Record: 10-3 and 3-1 in District. 

2023 Playoffs: Lost to Sharkey Issaquena Academy, Mississippi in the Semisfinals. 

Team Outlook: “We are looking forward to a successful season. Kids have been working hard all Summer. We lost 7 seniors this past season and lost to the eventual State Champions in Sharkey Issaquena Academy by 6 points in the Semifinals. We have alot of production on Offense & Defense to make up for those seniors we lost. We have way more skill players returning than we do lineman, so we will be a work in progress up front on the Offensive Line. I feel like we can still be very competitive and win some games. Team just has to come together as one and you never know what can happen,” said coach Travis. 

Like coach said 2 key players do return on Offense in SR’s Ryder Jones a (5-11, 185) RB/LB, and QB/DB Brock Johnson (5-11, 160). There are a few players back to lead the run game and passing game in RB/LB William Woodall, RB/DE Kewan Foley, RB/LB Jack Woodall, RB/LB Zach Lovell, WR/LB Jackson Thronton, WR/DB Deacon Howard, WR/DB Davis Holt, WR/DB Trecin Baker, WR/DE Luis Perez, and WR/DB Jack Martin. Key lineman back in the program to start both sides of the football are OL/TE/DE Brody Benton (5-9, 175), OL/DL Boone Sanderson (5-10, 240), OL/DL Jack Densmore (5-9, 240), and OL/DL Calvin Barnes (6-2, 300) a SR. The program also has a new Defensive Coordinater in 2024 Derrick Watson

Tensas Academy Chiefs

Head Coach: Murry Rhodes (2nd year) 

2023 Record: 0-11

2023 Playoffs: 1st Round lost to Tallulah Academy HS 68-26

Team Outlook: Head Coach Murry Rhodes who has close to 20 years coaching experience in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas is very excited about the 2024 team. “We have a very young team, a lot of these guys were on District JV team and have moved up, so we are excited about the future here at Tensas Academy,” said coach Rhodes. 

The program will be lead by players QB George Tucker (6-1, 170) SR lead all Offense stats for team in 2023, TE/LB Hunter Cavit (5-10, 225), strongest player coach says on the team and most experienced player on team, TE/DE Ty Rhodes (6-3, 215), as a Freshman in 2023 was unblockable at times at DE and should ancor the Defensive Line, and the team returns RB/CB Tobie Matthews (5-9, 165) dynamic when he has the ball in is hands coach said Rhodes, kid has a very bright future for this young man!
