Abrum reflects on a challenging season for his team, but individually, he has emerged as a top-ranked prospect on the North Shore, earning 5A 2nd Team All-State honors. His growth can be attributed to his long-standing coaching staff. “I’ve had the same offensive line and head coach for the past four years,” Abrum shares. “They’ve taught me so much and sculpted me into the player I am.” He notes that while this is the offensive coordinator's second year, his impact has been felt as if he’s been there for much longer.
Since his sophomore year, Abrum has been on the recruiting radar, currently having 11 offers from schools including La Tech, Arkansas State, Southern Miss, Colorado State, McNeese State, Central Arkansas, Troy, Nicholls State, Southeastern Louisiana, and two junior colleges.
Outside of football, Abrum enjoys hanging out with friends and playing video games on weekends. However, he often finds himself watching NFL or college football, reviewing game film, or fitting in light lifts and recovery. Growing up just 45 minutes to an hour from LSU, he attended many games and has always been a fan. One of the schools he’s most excited about is Arkansas State, particularly for their top-notch facilities and great coaching staff.
As a proud supporter of the New Orleans Pelicans and New Orleans Saints, Abrum loves basketball as much as football, trying to catch a few Pelicans games each year. He plans to major in education, with aspirations to become a coach. “I’m in love with the sport; I want to stay in it for as long as I can and coach others,” he says. Football runs in his family, as his dad played college baseball at Delgado before an injury cut his career short, while his mom, a personal trainer, provides invaluable support. With such a strong foundation, Abrum is well on his way to a successful future in sports.
