School: Jena High School, Class of 2025
Position: LB
Height: 6'1
Weight: 215
One of the top sleeper linebackers in Louisiana is Jacob Belcher, a Class of 2025 senior. Jacob stands 6'1", weighs 215 pounds, and runs a 4.7 forty-yard dash—though he looks even faster on the field.
In 2023, Jacob impressed me with his grit, toughness, and full-throttle effort on every play. He has the athleticism and footwork to play at the IAA level or higher. In the 2023 season, Belcher recorded 98 tackles. For 2024, through 12 games (including the first round of the playoffs), he has tallied 83 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 1 interception.
Jacob also demonstrates a high football IQ. He reads plays well and consistently makes contact before the ball reaches his opponents. In addition to football, Jacob is a dual-sport athlete, currently committed to Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) for baseball, where he plays third base and pitcher. On the football field, he occasionally steps in as quarterback during two-point conversions when not playing linebacker.
Belcher is a strong and disciplined athlete, benching 340 pounds and squatting 440 pounds in the weight room.
"It’s great playing for my football coaches. They care not only about the team but about each player, helping us become better athletes and better people," said Jacob Belcher.
Regarding his commitment to BRCC for baseball, Jacob shared, "I talked to the head coach, Brandon Schmidt, of the Baton Rouge Community College baseball team all summer. He made it clear they really wanted me and believed I could make an impact on their program. I went on a visit, watched a practice, and got to meet all the guys. It was a great experience, and I feel like I have a fantastic chance to further my baseball career after my two years at BRCC in Baton Rouge."
