Captain Shreve's Versatile Weapon Kamron Dowell Doing Everything Well For Gators

One of the most versatile offensive skill players in North Louisiana is Captain Shreve High School senior wide receiver/tight end Kamron Dowell. According to our own Lee Brecheen, Dowell can provide plenty of mismatch problems for opponents.

"Kamron Dowell is one of those jumbo players that can become a H-Back, tight end, or receiver at 6-3, 220 pounds," Dowell said. "He has so much talent and upside that we all want to know what he is going to become. In , he can become a tight end at 6-3, 240 pounds or he can stay at 215 pounds and become a wide receiver. The kid can run and he has good hands. He is probably the most intriguing player in Shreveport considering what he will be a year from now."

Like Brecheen said, there are a lot of different talents that this Captain Shreve football weapon can do. If you do not take his word for it, ask Kamron Dowell himself.

"My biggest strengths are catching, playing physical, and blocking," Dowell said.

Although Dowell wants to improve on his speed, there is still a lot to like. For the Captain Shreve Gators, Dowell creates a mismatch problem because of his size and athleticism whether it is at wide receiver or tight end, especially at wide receiver.

"I prefer wide receiver because of my size and ability to move," Dowell said.

Dowell also prefers playing wide receiver because of the players he has grown up admiring.

"I try to model my game after Dez Bryant (Oklahoma State/Dallas Cowboys)," Dowell said. "He was good at finding the defensive back's blind spot and using that as an advantage."

Hopefully, taking advantage of a secondary's weakness will help Dowell accomplish his goals for this season, which is to have over 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns. So far, Dowell has done his part in helping the Gators win games as Captain Shreve has started the season at 2-1.

"I think we have started off better than people expected," Dowell said. "We have a young team so once our young players get there nervousness out of their system, we will make a good run. We can improve on worrying about the next play and not a play that happened a couple plays ago."

With offensive skill position players like Dowell, running back Samtavious Smith, junior wide receiver sensation Kendrick Law, and talented young quarterback Ashton Martin, the Gators are in position for a strong 2020 season under head coach Bryant Sepulvado. However, for right now, it is not just about winning, but playing well enough in order for Dowell to get an opportunity to play at the next level.

"Right now, Louisiana is the only school to offer me, but more s are looking at me," Dowell said. "I’m just trying to stay focused during the season."

One way Dowell is trying to stay focused is to take from some of the other-sports he has played and applied them on the football field as a natural athlete.

"Track and Field helps me with my explosiveness and speed," Dowell said.

Still, it is much more than being a great athlete that helps players stick out in the recruiting process, and fortunately, Dowell knows just yet.

"I’m a leader," Dowell said. "I know the game of football. I’m coachable and a hard worker. My academics are good while playing and in the off-season."

In speaking of during the offseason, he spends his free time working in a funeral home and working on his school work so he can major in either engineering or social sciences once in . Captain Shreve High School senior do it all playmaker Kamron Dowell has proven that he can indeed do it all not only on the field for the Gators program, but off the field as well.
