Brooks Auger is a senior at Cedar Creek High School in Ruston, LA. Auger is the quarterback of the football team and is recognized for his toughness and speed. When football season is over, Auger is also a baseball player and he explains how he uses baseball to help overcome adversity in football and vice versa. He explains how both sports have allowed him to be accountable for his actions and helped his performance to lead his team succeed.

“The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that failure is apart of every game you play but you have to strive to be successful because once you get out into the real world with a family of your own and others depending on you, success is necessary,“ Auger said.

Being a quarterback, Auger has a lot of people depending on him and that allows him to develop his leadership skills and focus on areas that need improvement. Another factor that plays a part in leadership is understanding how to control and play under pressure, which is something Auger posses according to his stats. This past season, he ran 95 times for 443 yards and eight touchdowns.

Auger says the toughest part about being a student athlete is keeping the eye on the prize and continue to focus on grades and completing assignments. He recognizes his family and friends as being a contribute to staying on track as a student athlete. When he graduates, he plans on going to to major in engineering or business. He would be excited to play baseball or football at the collegiate level if given the opportunity.
