As it is every other day here at Louisiana Football Magazine, it has been pretty busy especially over the last couple months when we have conducted our Louisiana Football Magazine photo shoots over that time period. We have finished our 23rd annual magazine cover shoot, but this year will mark the third straight year in which we have conducted both a North and South photo shoot. This year, we shot the North photo shoot at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and we shot the South photo shoot at Catholic High School in baton-rouge. Both events were really successful, and we would like to thank everybody who has helped us make both events so special for the players that were involved. Besides taking the photos, Louisiana Football Magazine’s owner Lee Brecheen and editor Jace LeJeune got the chance to talk to some of the top Class of 2020 players in the state of the Louisiana. Both Brecheen and LeJeune talked to the recruits about their top schools, goals for the upcoming season, hobbies, and so much more. The good news is that football season begins this month. Here at Louisiana Football Magazine, we know that you have been waiting long enough for some Louisiana football to start so we will post these video interviews that were taken at both photoshoot events to help you get through that time!

In today’s recruit interview, we go to Northwestern State University where Lee Brecheen sat down with two district rivals in ATH Cole Johnston from Caldwell Parish High School and LB Wesley Humphries from Jena High School!

Cole Johnston: The Caldwell Parish Spartans are coming off a pretty impressive 9-3 season making the second round of the Class 3A playoffs. The Spartans have a great chance of not only equaling their record, but even eclipsing their record thanks to their all-purpose playmaker Cole Johnston returning. Johnston does not have one position labeled as he does a little bit of everything. Just look at his stats as the versatile playmaker had 28 catches for 427 yards and three touchdowns as a receiver in 2018. As a running back, he ran for 91 yards and a touchdown. Along with playing on offense, Johnston is also a talented free safety, but perhaps, the biggest impact he makes is on special teams as returned two punts for touchdowns. The All-District selection should be accounted for at all times for the opposing team.

Wesley Humphries: In speaking of the opposing team, the Jena Giants are one of those teams that will try and stop Cole Johnston. They will have some big help led by one of the best defensive players in the district in LB Wesley Humphries. Like Johnston, Humphries showed that he can be versatile, but this time as a defender. In 2018, Humphries stuffed the stat sheet with 50 tackles, two sacks, an interception, and even two blocked punts. Humphries is a high effort playmaker that will hope to lead the Giants to the next step and that is make a deep playoff run after posting great regular season records in years past.
