Ruston's Star Running Back Ke'Travion Hargrove Pushes Himself Even More After Exploding Onto Recruiting Scene

One of the most promising young running backs in the state of Louisiana comes from Ruston High School in Ruston, LA, and his name is Ke'Travion Hargrove. At 6-0, 190 pounds, Hargrove has the frame, but most importantly the speed to become a big time Division I running back.

"I would say my speed and my awareness are my biggest strengths as a running back," Hargrove said.

For Hargrove, speed kills as he can run a 4.45/40. The Ruston explosive playmaker uses his speed to his advantage in the offseason for the school's track and field team. In the 100 meters, Hargrove can run 10.6 seconds and has actually won a indoor track state championship. For the Ruston two sport athlete, running track has helped him emerge as a running back on the football field.

"I have a better form and can keep my full speed longer," Hargrove said. "I also do plan on playing both sports in ."

In speaking of , there have not been a lack of s offering the four star running back. In fact, Tulane, Texas State, Southern, SMU, Oklahoma State, Michigan State, UL, Houston, Boston , Baylor, Louisiana Tech, South Carolina, Penn State, and Florida State have all offered the highly talented football and track star. At one time, Hargrove actually committed to Louisiana Tech, but decommitted recently.

"I just went over it with my family when I made my decision to decommit," Hargrove said.

The former Louisiana Tech commit decided to reopen his commit and explore his options even more.

"My top schools are Penn State, Florida State, and South Carolina," Hargrove said.

If there is a school that the Power Five recruit has not received an official offer from that he would love to get is the LSU Tigers. Hargrove loved his experience at the indoor track state championships at LSU's campus so much that he is also considering to play in baton-rouge even if he has not received an official offer just yet.

"I like LSU a lot," Hargrove said. "I have talked to Coach Kevin Faulk and Coach Bill Johnson. I also had a little talk with Coach Ed Orgeron."

Although a final decision is still awhile away for Hargrove, he does know what criteria he is going to look at when determining where to sign.

"I am looking for a good academic core and little playing time," Hargrove said.

Playing time is something that Hargrove does not have to worry for his senior season as he will get plenty of carries after running for 1,537 yards and 20 touchdowns along with becoming a productive receiver out of the backfield with 17 catches for 460 yards and six more touchdowns in 2019. Having explosiveness as a runner and becoming a great receiver out of the backfield are similar skillsets to his football idol.

"I love Alvin Kamara (Alabama/Hutchinson Community /Tennessee/new-orleans Saints)," Hargrove said. "He just stands out to me."

It is also Hargrove's play that sticks out to guys like our own Lee Brecheen, who selected Ruston's biggest offensive weapon as one of 20 players to be featured on the front cover of the North Louisiana Magazine.

"For me, it's an honor to be on the front cover of any magazine cover, but I'm truly blessed to be on one cover that has had so many NFL greats on there," Hargrove said. "It pushes me to get even better."

Hargrove is humbled by the honor and so much so that he wants to crack 2,000 all-purpose yards. Even though it is a tall task to pull off, he does get a little help from his backfield buddy Deontre Griffin.

"Tre and I are really good friends," Hargrove said. "You'll always see us somewhere by each other competing and having a good time."

When you add in Griffin's 726 rushing yards and eight touchdowns as well, the duo of Hargrove and Griffin may be the best running back combination in the state of Louisiana on paper. However, on paper only can do so much for this duo.

"I am just trying to make big plays in every game in order to help my team win games," Hargrove said.

That is all the Ruston offensive star's focus right now, but he does realize that how his senior season ends could result in an incredible future that he has already planned for himself.

"My goal is to be named one of the greatest to come through and to be at least a Heisman contender," Hargrove said. "Honestly, I could see myself in the NFL working to be a Hall of Famer in the next ten years."

For anyone, those are incredibly lofty goals, but for somebody with immense talent like Ke'Travion Hargrove, lofty goals have a high chance of being met.
