Aiden Saunders Continuing To Prove Himself For The Live Oak Eagles

by Jace LeJeune

As a veteran defensive back from Live Oak High School, upcoming senior Aiden Saunders has constantly proved to be one of the best in the Livingston Parish area. Ever since his freshman season, Saunders has been able to find his way on the football field and has done some incredible things whether on Special Teams or on defense. When talking to former Live Oak head coach Brett Beard four seasons ago, he said that Saunders is going to be a special player and Saunders play has backed up the former coach's word.

Last season proved to be the best season yet for Saunders. As a junior, the 6-0, 195 pound defensive back had 61 tackles, six tackles for loss, five interceptions, five forced fumbles, a blocked punt, and a kickoff return for a touchdown. Saunders has also made 1st team All-District and 1st Team All-Parish this past season as well. Since it was a good year for the veteran Eagle, he is looking forward to end his senior season on a bang.

"I want to make the playoffs and compete every game," Saunders said. "I want to get District MVP before I finish my high school career."

In order to get those goals accomplished, it takes hard work as well as understanding one's own strengths and weaknesses.

"My strengths are to play run help and being able to read all of the field," Saunders said. "For this upcoming season, I want to improve on my speed, quickness, and man coverage."

Saunders runs track after football and it helps with his speed and conditioning for the upcoming football season. Hopefully, all the hard work comes into play as the Live Oak veteran is looking for offers by the time his senior season is finished.

"I have not received any offers, but ULL has shown some interest," Saunders said. "I want to play somewhere closer to home and a school that will help me on and off the field."

Most of all, Saunders just wants a chance to prove himself like he did during his playing career so far at Live Oak High School.

"Schools should offer me because I will come in and compete to be the best everyday," Saunders said.

The competitiveness and passion that Aiden Saunders shows on the field will give him an opportunity, and according to him, that is all he needs.
