Central's Samuel Kenerson Is A Jack Of Many Traits

Central's Samuel Kenerson Is A Jack Of Many Traits

by Alexis Mason

Samuel Kenerson is a three star senior dual-threat quarterback at Central High School in baton-rouge, LA. Along with being on the football team, Kenerson also plays baseball. His position as starting center fielder led the baseball team to the state championship last year. He is 5-10, 170 pounds and is ranked as the #42 overall in Louisiana. Last year, Kenerson threw for 1500, ran for 800 yards, and accounted for 19 total touchdowns.

Kenerson describes his strength as being versatile and being able to play anywhere on the field at any speed. Baseball has impacted his football performance because it has improved his side to side movements and his speed. He describes balancing his work as being difficult, but it is necessary to be able to play the sports he loves. Winning back to back state championships in baseball and receiving his first offer encouraged Kenerson to work harder.

Kenerson's athletic ability has helped him receive offers from Middle Tennessee, Austin Peay, Georgia Southern, Southern University, Jackson State, and more. He is fully committed to South Alabama and is excited to diversify his talents to play as defensive back, and some wide receiver. Kenerson explains why he chose South Alabama.

“I feel like their program fits me and I feel like I can pursue my position as cornerback," Kenerson said. "South Alabama feels like home and I can’t wait to help change the culture over there and get it going.”

Also, Kenerson has a couple of words to the next quarterback at Central.

“Be hungry, lead, be in charge at all times because everyone follows behind the quarterback, know your whole team, trust your coaches, and trust that your teammates have your back,” Kenerson said.

Alexis Mason is a Maryland native, but went to high school in Atlanta. She is a junior studying Sports Administration at LSU. Her ultimate goal in life is to help others and to make their life just a little easier any way possible. She is a big believer of having faith and knowing that every obstacle that comes in life is there for a reason and can be tackled.
