Class of 2022 Recruit Spotlight: Archbishop Rummel High School TE Tyronne Hayes
Class of 2022 Recruit Spotlight: Archbishop Rummel High School TE Tyronne Hayes
by Andon Brabham
In modern day football, the tight end position is one of the most important and versatile positions on the field. Players like Travis Kelce, George Kittle, and Darren Waller have revolutionized the position with their pass-catching ability as well as their ability as blockers. This positionary revolution is no better seen than in Archbishop Rummel senior Tight End Tyronne Hayes.
The 6’3” 220 pound Hayes combines his extraordinary speed and strength to exemplify this revolution of the Tight End position. Hayes describes his biggest on-field strength as his pass-catching, as he likens himself to San Francisco 49ers’ standout George Kittle. Tyronne’s athleticism makes him a difficult matchup for defenses, as his strength and size makes him too difficult for defensive backs to guard, and his speed makes him a nightmare for linebackers looking to cover him. This athleticism and pass-catching ability makes Tyronne a perfect fit for the school he is committed to; the high-scoring spread offense of McNeese State University in Lake Charles.
Hayes looks to continue his studies while also playing football for the Cowboys, as he intends to major in Biology once he arrives at McNeese. His success both on the field, in the classroom, and in the weight room is shown in some of the numbers. Hayes has a 3.5 GPA during his time at Rummel, and his 4.5/40 time along with a 295 pound bench press makes Tyronne a dangerous and intelligent player at the next level.
Off the field, Hayes enjoys playing video games with friends and looking into or working on cars. Although Tyronne and Rummel’s season has finished, Hayes still remains a player to watch at the level.
