The West Ouachita Chiefs may have finished with a losing season this past year, but they did have two star players on their team that still helped them every game. One of these players being Thomas Wink, who is a senior center for the Chiefs. Wink stands at 6’4” and is 325 pounds. Wink claims that his size and strength are his greatest strengths as an athlete, and Lee Brecheen, recruiting expert for Louisiana Football Magazine, agrees that he is strong. Brecheen also says that Wink has great hands and feet. Wink is currently interested in Southern Arkansas University, Millsaps and East Texas Baptist University. Wink would also like to attend school to be a physical therapist. Wink began playing football in the second grade, where he signed up for flag football with his friends. He says he will miss all of his friends from high school football as well. His best memory from football is from his sophomore year when he was put in his first varsity game and won the only district game that year. Outside of sports, Wink helps at church and likes to fish and hunt. Wink will definitely continue to dominate with his strength and size wherever he decides to play football.

Another great player for the Chiefs this year was Mason Cobb, also a senior. Cobb is a 6'0”, 160 pound punter with “a great leg”, according to Lee Brecheen. Although Cobb is a punter, he has played various roles throughout his football career, which include quarterback, wide receiver, kicker, linebacker, holder, safety, and running back. Cobb says that being versatile is his greatest strength as an athlete. “I will do anything asked of me,” he says. Cobb started playing football in the sixth grade after playing soccer and he says he immediately fell in love with the game. He says, “I knew this is what I wanted to do in the long run as long as I can do it.” “One thing I’ll miss the most about high school football is the atmosphere,” Cobb says. “You can’t replace a Friday night, especially in Louisiana, with the heat and fans. Everything about it is just so great and I wish I could have it forever.” Aside from football and working, in his free time, Cobb enjoys attending church, spending time with his friends, playing video games, and having fun. Cobb is committed to play football at Sterling in Sterling, Kansas.
