Class of 2023 Recruit Spotlight: John Ehret High School LB Jerzey Brown

Class of 2023 Recruit Spotlight: John Ehret High School LB Jerzey Brown

by Freety Parker

Jerzey Brown is a 6’1, 200 pound linebacker from John Ehret High School located in Marrero, Louisiana. Jerzey helped lead the Patriots to a 7-3 season last year that unfortunately was cut short in the playoffs, but Jerzey has his goals set on winning the State Championship his senior year. Last season, Jerzey tallied 80 tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, and six sacks. To go along with his stats, he has an impressive squat max of 415 and bench press max of 225, which will continue to improve as he gets older. Jerzey’s love for the game started when he was just 5 years old when his mom would bring him to the park. That’s when his love and dream of playing football at the next level all started.

When asked what his favorite moment has been while playing football, Jerzey said that scoring his first pick six in high school was a moment that solidified his love for the game. Jerzey considers himself a silent leader. Once he notices his words might not be affecting anyone, he leads by working hard and getting in and out with no complaints. Off the field, Jerzey maintains a 3.2 GPA, always attends class, and does whatever he can to lead by example.

Jerzey's knowledge of the game and his drive to watch film to figure out what he can do better is something that coaches at every level look for in a player. During the offseason, he is working on his explosiveness and his physicality when tackling, making sure that the players he lines up against next season regret running at him.

Growing up, Jerzey had dreams of going on to play football at USC, Oregon, Florida, and LSU with a breakout senior year this could become a reality. Whatever school that gives him a chance to play DI football, he promises to not let them down and work hard for what he loves most. In , he plans on majoring in engineering and wants to get a minor in communication in order to improve his chances of being a sports analyst. In his free time, Jerzey enjoys working out, hanging out with his close friends, and “chilling with family”. A breakout senior season for Jerzey Brown is right around the corner. Be ready.
