Mansfield High School Athlete Adrian Green Making The Next Leap For The Collegiate Level
by Jace LeJeune
Mansfield High School senior athlete Adrian Green has proven that he is more than green to play in terms of his talent, but Louisiana Football Magazine's recruiting guru Lee Brecheen has seen the star Wolverines wide receiver make the next step of becoming a star in .
"At the end of Adrian Green's junior year, watching him on film, you could tell that he could run that 4.40/40," Brecheen said. "He ran that at the camps and got some offers, but as a football player, he has really blossomed in his senior year. He has gotten bigger, taller, and stronger. Now, he has shown his ability and not just looking like it. He has made a lot of big plays for his team, but I think he could be either a slot receiver or cornerback in for a Power Five in the end."
When it comes to getting Power Five offers, the speedy 5-11, 170 pound receiver has not received them yet, but DI interests has been increasing for this up and coming playmaker.
"I have offers from Texas Southern and McNeese State," Green said. "Also, the University of Houston, Louisiana Tech, and Northwestern State have shown interest."
For the 1st Team All-North Louisiana Offensive Team selection, he is just looking for a chance to showcase his skills early on a football campus next season.
"Things that I look for are will I be able to compete for my spot and is the university a home away from home," Green said.
After finishing with 44 catches for 700 yards in 2019, it is scary that the All-District and All-Parish selection is still trying to improve his game in 2020 by expanding his route running
"I can run the whole route tree and play inside as well as outside," Green said. "I model my game after Jerry Jeudy (Alabama/Denver Broncos) because of his route running."
However, in order to become the complete receiver, there is still one area to his game that needs improving.
"I need to improve on blocking," Green said.
While setting a goal of having double digit touchdowns this season, Green is more concerned about getting his team in a position to make a deep playoff run after an up and down 2-3 start.
"The season is going well and if things continue to come together for us, we'll have a chance to make a run in the playoffs," Green said.
Running on the gridiron is not the only thing Green can do athletically, but he also plays two other-sports that help his overall athleticism.
"I play basketball and run track," Green said. "They help me stay in shape and also give me a chance to increase my speed."
While it is his speed that first helped put Adrian Green on the map, it is the rest of his entire game that has helped him stay there.
