Many High School Kicker Trotter LaFollette Brings Extra Dimension For Tigers' State Championship Hopes

by Jace LeJeune

The Many Tigers have been a state championship contender at the 2A level because of talent at the running back position, a physical offensive line, and strong defensive play. Now, the Tigers have an extra dimension that could help them win their first state championship since 2014, and that is special teams. The leader of the special teams unit is senior kicker and punter Trotter LaFollette. Louisiana Football Magazine's recruiting expert Lee Brecheen has seen the dual threat Many High School kicker and punter go under the radar as one of the best players at his position for the 2021 class.

"I saw Trotter play his junior year, and thought he had an incredible leg," Brecheen said. "He is pretty much 99 percent on extra points. His kickoffs are now hitting the end zone by six yards, and they were already hitting the end zone already his junior year. He is a tall kid that has a cannon leg and is only going to get bigger and stronger. I think he can kick for anybody in the United States, but it is a great year for kickers in Louisiana. There are about five or six really good kickers in the state, which is rare. It is kind of hard to say who is the best, but this kid probably has the strongest leg in the state. He can probably hit from 55-60 yards once he gets in ."

East Texas Baptist University has noticed LaFollette's strong leg as the university has already offered the Many senior. Still, LaFollette is looking at all his options before it is all said and done.

“I’m looking for a team with a good special teams core and somewhere that I can form bonds that will last a lifetime,” Lafollette said.

Although LaFollette does not have the luxury of going to kicking camps this season because of COVID, he already showed what he could do by having the third best punt at the Kohl's nationally recognized kicking camp with a 52 yard punt along with a 4.35 second hang time in 2019. He also has shown what he could do on the biggest stage by making a 30 yard field goal in the Super Dome for the Class 2A state championship game last season. Along with being Mr. Reliable last season converting on 11 of his 12 field goal attempts last season, LaFollette can do it all with his powerful leg.
