We have finished our 23rd annual magazine cover shoot, but this year marked the third straight year in which we have conducted both a North and South photo shoot. This year, we shot the North photo shoot at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and we shot the South photo shoot at Catholic High School in baton-rouge. Both events were really successful, and we would like to thank everybody who has helped us make both events so special for the players that were involved. Besides taking the photos, Louisiana Football Magazine’s owner Lee Brecheen and editor Jace LeJeune got the chance to talk to some of the top Class of 2020 players in the state of the Louisiana. Both Brecheen and LeJeune talked to the recruits about their top schools, goals for the upcoming season, hobbies, and so much more. For the next couple of weeks, we will post these video interviews that were taken at both photoshoot events.

In today’s recruit interview, we go to Catholic High School where Jace LeJeune caught up with Oak Forest Academy senior TE/DE Jacob Junkins!

Jacob Junkins: In the MAIS ranks, the Oak Forest Academy Yellow Jackets have been one of the top programs every single season. Whether it is under former coach Jason Brabham or current head coach Drew Misita, the Yellow Jackets have always been a big threat filled with great players. This season, the Yellow Jackets are entering the MAIS playoffs with a 7-3 regular season record. One of the key catalysts behind the Yellow Jackets' impressive regular season run is two position player Jacob Junkins. At 6-4, 250 pounds, Junkins can dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides of the football whether it is at the MAIS level or the LHSAA level.

Louisiana Football Magazine's recruiting expert Lee Brecheen is high on Junkins putting him on the cover of the South Louisiana magazine. Even though he plays on the offensive and defensive line for the team, Brecheen can see the big senior as a tight end at the next level.

“In person, Jacob Junkins is all of 6-4, 250 pounds," Brecheen said. "He is built like an offensive lineman, but if he does not gain any more weight, he is perfect as a DI tight end. If he does gain more weight, we will move to play on the offensive line. He could be a sleeper DI offensive guard, but personally, I want to see him stay at that weight and continue to play tight end.”

Last season, it was the defensive side of the football where Jacob Junkins made the most impact. As a defensive end, Junkins had 41 tackles, 23 solo, 10 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and even a touchdown on defense. Even though he has drawn interests from other schools out of state, there is only one school that he likes to call home.

“My top school is Southeastern,” Junkins said. “I love it because it’s close to home.”

Outside of football, Junkins likes hanging out with friends, hunting, and fishing. Junkins and the Yellow Jackets will start their playoff run this Friday against Madison-Ridgeland Academy.
