Chris Rideau II, a standout offensive lineman and center from Opelousas High School, is making a name for himself. At 6'1" and 285 pounds, Chris has been a dominant force on the field, earning First Team All-District and All-Parish honors in 2022 and 2023. He was also recognized as All Metro and All Acadiana in 2023. With the highest GPA on the OHS football team and the Outstanding O-lineman of the Year award in 2023, Chris excels athletically and academically.
Chris's passion for playing center comes naturally, a skill inherited from his father, who was All State and played for the legendary Eddie Robinson at Grambling State University. Chris shares that he loves his current position “because each offensive play begins with the Center. Most people say I'm a natural born center.”
Recruitment offers have poured in for Chris from several football programs, including Tuskegee University, University of Central Arkansas, Prairie View A&M, and Louisiana universities including Southern University and Grambling State University. Outside of football, Chris has a passion for technology. He enjoys playing computer and video games and recently produced a video for the Future Business Leaders Leadership Conference that won first place in Louisiana. Additionally, he built a website and placed 6th last year and 4th this year at the state conference.
Chris is involved in various extracurricular activities, including Upward Bound at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Beta Club, Spanish Club, and the National Honor Society. His favorite college is Southern University in Baton Rouge, a choice influenced by several family members who graduated from there. “Since I was a little boy we attended the Bayou Classic in New Orleans between Southern and Grambling. I always supported Southern even though my dad went to Grambling and would love to get a scholarship to attend Southern University,” Chris says.
A dedicated hometown guy, Chris loves watching the New Orleans Saints and plans to major in Computer Science to become a Software Engineer one day. His ambition and achievements on and off the field make him a remarkable student-athlete poised for a bright future.
