Talented Journeyman Athlete Jarrius Snearl Striving In His Home At Glen Oaks

Jarrius Snearl is one of those names that is flying under the radar in the baton-rouge area. Close to 6-4 in length at 215 pounds, Snearl is strong, fast, athletic, and versatile playing on both sides of the football just like a former two way prep star that has gone on to play linebacker at the highest level.

"I love Patrick Queen (Livonia High School/LSU/Baltimore Ravens) because he reminds me a lot of me playing hard and aggressive and with a purpose," Queen said.

Although Snearl has what it takes to potentially play at the DI level, there is still not a lot of talk being around him mostly because his journey has taken him to multiple places.

"The schools I went to was Brusly High School and Port Allen High School," Snearl said.

Snearl did play and start a lot for both the West baton-rouge schools, but it is the East side of the Mississippi River bridge that he has found a home at Glen Oaks High School after starting for the Panthers as a junior.

"Glen Oaks is just a different environment from other schools," Snearl said. "It’s like home. I feel comfortable with the coaches there, and I know they have expectations high for me!"

There are a lot of high expectations for Snearl to do good things after his incredible junior season in which he had 125 tackles and 3.5 sacks on defense along with 53 rushing yards and 95 passing yards on offense. This All-District selection feels that he has more to bring to the table in 2020.

"I would give myself a C because I was at a new school new coaching staff and gave it my all, but I could’ve done better," Snearl said.

Specifically, there are certain areas that he would like to improve on for his senior season.

"I need to improve on staying with good leverage and making fundamental tackling," Snearl said.

If Snearl works on those key areas, his recruiting could pick up some more steam. Although the coronavirus has prevented other s to see Snearl play on, especially since he has played for three teams in three years, the Glen Oaks senior has already received offers to play for Huntington , Jackson State, Richmond, Delaware, and Abilene Christian. With already some offers, Snearl is ready to receive some more by the end of this season.

"The schools that I would like to get offers from are Southern, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State, and ULM," Snearl said. "I feel like if the coaches could see me in person, they would offer me and have time to watch games."

Coaches will get their chance to see Snearl play this season and playing against other top programs with great recruiting backgrounds will give him an opportunity to showcase his skills whether it is at linebacker, safety, tight end, fullback, or even punter.

"University Lab and Madison Prep are the important games I can’t wait to play because I want to compete with the best," Snearl said.

The versatile Glen Oaks playmaker wants to compete with the best because he already knows that he is going to have to give it 100%.

"I got a lot of people counting on me including my family, my friends, coaches, and teammates so I have to go 100% every snap every rep," Snearl said.

Snearl gives it 100 percent off the field too despite constantly moving around. The talented athlete is heavily involved with other-sports including both basketball and baseball while also making sure to spend time being a mentor for younger kids. His leadership off the field inspires him to one day run a business once his football career is over, but now, it is time to show the people watching what he can do now in his stable home.

"It's going to be one to remember ladies and gentlemen," Snearl said.

The players facing Glen Oaks' journeyman Jarrius Snearl will sure remember too.

Jace is from Addis, LA but resides in Port Allen, LA. Jace attends Southeastern Louisiana University and is majoring in Communications. This is Jace’s fourth year as Associate Editor at Louisiana Football Magazine. He is also a graduate from Catholic High School in baton-rouge where he was the editor of the school newspaper the “Bearly Published.” While at CHS, Jace also announced their football, basketball, and baseball games for the Bruin Broadcast Network which is the Catholic High’s streaming website for their events.
