The Bonnabel Bruins Lean On Taylor Tate's Physical Presence Up Front

The Bonnabel Bruins Lean On Taylor Tate's Physical Presence Up Front

The Bonnabel Bruins' win-loss record may not have reflected it with a 1-5 record in 2020, but the team under the leadership of Brett Bonnaffons, has been more competitive than in recent years. One of the big reasons for that is their big man up front in Taylor Tate. At 6-2, 280 pounds, Tate is one of the most underrated players at his position in the new-orleans area. Since Tate does not play for a bigger program, his name often gets unnoticed even though he plays both ways on the offensive and defensive line. However, Louisiana Football Magazine's recruiting guru Lee Brecheen loves the way this two way Bruin starter plays.

"Taylor Tate is a big time sleeper," Brecheen said. "The kid has great feet and gives it his all. He is strong too, and I just love this kid's game."

Even though Tate's name has been flying under the radar, Brecheen is not the only one to notice his play as Louisiana and Mississippi have offered the Bonnabel lineman. According to Tate, it has been his stamina that has allowed him to get opportunities to play at the next level.

"It was playing on both sides the ball," Tate said. "I was doing it a lot my junior year and and going into my senior year, I gained enough stamina to do that."

That stamina carried Tate to dominate on both sides of the football.

"Playing on offense, I was getting pancakes every game and this season, our entire offensive line only gave up two sacks the entire season," Tate said. "On the defensive side, I always try to find a way to get a sack or set my teammates up for it."

Communication and being a leader for the rest of his teammates was also in Tate's arsenal in order to get Bonnabel the best position possible to compete.

"Overall, this season, I feel like when the seniors left, and we got new recruits we took a step backwards, but the near future, I feel like they will be really good," Tate said. "This season, I felt really confident that I played really good but there are certain stuff I need to fix to become better."

Now, Taylor Tate hopes to get the opportunity to be that type of player at the player just like he was for the Bruins.

"Honestly I feel like I am a great asset to the team and as the years go by, you can see me as that leader that can lead the team to victory," Tate said.
