Transfer Trayv'on Culbert Becoming Key Target In Alexandria High School's Undefeated Run

Over the last three seasons, Trayv'on Culbert has been catching passes for the Tioga High School Indians. Now, after transferring to Alexandria High School, the 6-1,185 pound receiver has given an extra weapon for the Trojans' passing game. Louisiana Football Magazine's recruiting guru Lee Brecheen is really high on the Alexandria newcomer.

"Trayv'on Culbert has great hands and great football speed in the open field," Brecheen said. "He is tough, strong, can run good routes and knows the game."

Because of his football I.Q., it has not taken long for Culbert to get accustomed to head coach Thomas Bachman's open offense.

"I believe I have gotten faster at Alexandria and have improved my overall skills," Culbert said.

Some of those improved skills include route running and yards after the catch have helped him gain collegiate attention.

"East Central University gave me an offer to play for them and I have a few other schools," Culbert said.

Although Culbert does have a lot of natural abilities, he has also made it an effort to work on them as well.

"Adjusting to the quarterbacks is what I spent most of my summer on when catching footballs with my quarterback," Culbert said.

All the extra time has paid off as the Trojans are undefeated and are heading into a second round playoff matchup against the Haughton Buccaneers.

"It's going to be a good game, but I am confident that we are going to pull the game off," Culbert said.

Confidence and preparation not only helps Culbert excel not only as a football player, but as a track and baseball athlete as well. Not to mention, it helps prepare his career path, which is real estate. For now, Culbert is looking to plan his stay in the Dome late December.

Jace is from Addis, LA but resides in Port Allen, LA. Jace attends Southeastern Louisiana University and is majoring in Communications. This is Jace’s fourth year as Associate Editor at Louisiana Football Magazine.
